What if I want to be the Designated Broker of a real estate agency?
A Broker license authorizes you to perform all brokerage services on behalf of an agency, including serving as the agency’s designated broker. The broker license is issued for two years and is renewable.
To apply for the Broker license you must:
- Complete one year of full-time practice as a licensed Associate Broker in the year immediately preceding the date you apply for the Broker license
- Complete the 45 hour Designated Broker Course with a grade of 75% or above
- Furnish a real estate brokerage experience summary for the full year immediately preceding the date of application for the Broker license
- Apply to the Maine Real Estate Commission
Consult the State of Maine Real Estate Candidate Handbook for complete details.
The Real Estate Learning Group offers the Designated Broker Course. Check our current schedule for dates and locations near you!
Note that there are alternate ways to be licensed in Maine if you have completed a specified course of study in a college degree program. Consult the Maine Real Estate Commission for more information.
